Indefinite pronoun

위 뜻을 그대로 해석해보면  명확하지 않은 대명사이다. 

 

이는 명백하기 가리키지 못하는 대명사를 뜻하는데 any, anybody, each, everyone, nobody 등등이 있다. 이 대명사들에게는 어떤 특징이 있는지 알아보자!

 

1. 주어, 목적어 둘다 사용할 수 있다. 

 

David do you want pizza?

yes, please I'd love some.

yes please some would be great.

 

2. both, neither, either은 두개의 대상일 때 사용한다. 

both는 둘다 모두 해당.

neither는 둘다 x

either는 둘 중 하나만 해당.

 

Do you like mangoes or cherries more?

I like both equal

 

3. 대부분 대명사를 단수 취급한다. 

any, everyone 등등은 복수를 의미하지만 문장에서는 단수 취급을 하여 사용한다. 

 

Nobody was home.

Everybody knows that I love onions.

 

Everyone was crouched behind furniture to surprise me but I already knew they were there

위 문장을 보면 they는 Everyone을 가리키는 대명사입니다. 하지만 everyone의 경우 was를 사용하고 they의 경우는 were을 사용하는 경우가 있습니다.
